Stadia

Stadia

Stadia is a cloud gaming service operated by Google. It is advertised to be capable of streaming video games up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with support for high-dynamic-range, to players via the company's numerous data centers across the globe, provided they are using a sufficiently high-speed Internet connection. It is accessible through the Google Chrome web browser on desktop computers, Pixel smartphones, supported smartphones from Samsung, Razer and Asus[1], as well as Chrome OS tablets and Chromecast.[2]

The service is planned to be integrated with YouTube, and its "state share" feature will allow viewers of a Stadia stream to launch a game on the service on the same save state as the streamer. This has been used as a selling point for the service. It is compatible with HID class USB controllers, though a proprietary controller manufactured by Google with a direct Wi-Fi link to data centers is available alongside the service. Stadia is not similar to Netflix, in that it requires users to purchase games to stream via Stadia rather than pay for access to a library of games. While the base service will be free, a Pro tier monthly subscription allows users to stream at higher rates for larger resolutions, and the offer to add free games to their library.

Known in development as Project Stream, the service was debuted through a closed beta running Assassin's Creed Odyssey in October 2018. Stadia was publicly released on November 19, 2019 in selected countries and received a mixed reception from reviewers. The service competes with Sony's PlayStation Now service, Nvidia's GeForce Now, and Microsoft's Project xCloud. On 8 April, 2020 Google started rolling out Stadia free base service, along with giving new users two months of Pro subscription.
Features
Stadia is a cloud gaming service,[3] and does not require additional computer hardware, only requiring the device to have an Internet connection and support for Google Chrome. Stadia works atop YouTube's functionality in streaming media to the user, as game streaming is seen as an extension of watching video game live streams, according to Google's Phil Harrison; the name "Stadia", the Latin plural of "stadium", is meant to reflect that it is a collection of entertainment, which the viewer can choose to sit back and watch, or take an active part in.[4] As Google had built out a large number of data centers across the globe, the company believes that Stadia is in a better position for cloud gaming compared to past endeavours like OnLive, PlayStation Now, and Gaikai, as most players would be geographically close to a data center. Stadia supports the streaming of games in HDR at 60 frames per second with 4K resolution, and anticipates eventually reaching 120 frames per second at 8K resolution.[4] Players can start games without having to download new content to their personal device. Players can opt to record or stream their sessions onto YouTube through Stadia. Viewers of such streams can launch the games directly from the stream with the same save state that they were just watching.[4]

The streaming technology enables new features on Stadia. Stream Connect allows Stadia players, cooperatively playing the same game with friends, to have picture-in-picture inserts on their display of their friends' point-of-view in the game. This feature was first launched with the release of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint.[5] The streaming technology allows for larger number of concurrent players on a game server; for example, servers for Grid are normally limited to 16 players, while the Stadia version will allow up to 40.[6]

While Stadia can use any HID-class USB controller, Google developed its own controller which connects via Wi-Fi directly to the Google data center in which the game is running, to reduce input latency.[4] Google is also exploring further ways to reduce latency, using an idea called "negative latency" which involves prediction of user input through various means so that any apparent network lag between controller and game response is minimized.[7] During its GDC 2019 keynote reveal, Google confirmed that the controller would also feature Google Assistant, which will automatically search YouTube for relevant, helpful videos related to the game they are currently playing at the touch of a key.[8]

Stadia offers two tiers of service, a free Base level and a monthly subscription Pro level. The Pro tier costs approximately US$10 per month, but allows users to access higher streaming rates, access a library of free games over time, and get discounts on other games offered for Stadia.[9] Harrison stated they are also looking into offering publisher subscriptions and other models in the future;[10] for example, Ubisoft announced its Uplay Plus subscription service will be available to Stadia users.

The internet speed requirements for the different types of picture quality from Stadia's service is as follows:
Hardware
Upon launch, Stadia's cloud hardware initially uses a custom Intel[13] x86 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz, with AVX2 and 9.5 megabytes of L2+L3 cache.[14] It also uses a custom AMD GPU based on the Vega architecture with HBM2 memory, 56 compute units, and 10.7 teraFLOPS.[14][15] The service also has solid-state drive storage, and 16 GB of RAM (supporting up to 484 GB/s bandwidth) shared between the GPU and the CPU.[14]

Google developed the controller for Stadia. The controller includes two thumbsticks, a directional pad, four main face buttons, two sets of shoulder buttons, and five additional controller face buttons. The controller has the capability of connection over a wireless network, rather than through the device that the user is playing on, as to reduce the latency of controller communication with Stadia services. The controller is available in a variation of four colors at its launch.[9]

Stadia initially launched in November 19, 2019 with a Founder's Pack, which included a Chromecast Ultra, a Stadia controller, three months of Pro service, and an additional three months of Pro service to gift to a friend.[9][16]

The service was expanded to several Samsung Galaxy, Razer Phone and ASUS ROG Phone devices in February 2020.

Joe Tracini

Joe Tracini

Joe Tracini (born Joe James Pasquale 19 July 1988) is an English actor and presenter. Best known for his role as Dennis Savage in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.[1] His previous TV acting credits have included the BBC Three comedy series Coming of Age and the Boomerang children's sitcom My Spy Family. His theatre credits include Spamalot, starring in the role of Patsy during a touring version of the production in 2015
Early life
Joe Tracini was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, the son of comedian Joe Pasquale.[3] and his second wife, Debbie Pasquale. The family subsequently moved to Kent and Joe was brought up in Higham, near Rochester. He was educated at King's School, Rochester and the Rochester Independent College. Having finished school, Tracini joined the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London where he completed a National Diploma in Performing Arts in early 2007. As well as being an actor, Tracini also trained as a magician, having taken an interest in magic at the age of two. In 2003, he received the title of ‘British Junior Magical Champion’ which he won at the Blackpool Opera House in front of 3,000 international magicians. At the same time he also won the title of ‘Most Promising Comedy Act of 2003’, chosen and presented by Ken Dodd, as well as coming third in The Magic Circle's 'Young Magician Of The Year' competition.

Acting career
Theatre
Tracini's first theatre appearance came in a Christmas 2005 pantomime version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend. The following year, having started his studies at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, he went on to perform in a number of their in-house productions including A Chorus Line and Sexual Perversity in Chicago, as well as a tour version of Richard III, in which he portrayed the title character. In 2007, he returned to the pantomime stage to take on the title role in Peter Pan at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.[4] A year later he reprised the role, this time at the Beck Theatre in Hayes alongside Leslie Grantham in the role of Captain Hook.[5] By 2009, despite a heavy filming schedule with Coming of Age and My Spy Family, he once again returned to the stage to take on the role of Buttons in Cinderella at The Hawth in Crawley[6] where he received rave reviews from the local media.[7]

Having taken a year off in 2010, he returned to pantomime in 2011 playing the role of Wishee Washee in Aladdin alongside Larry Lamb at the Ashcroft Theatre in Croydon. The following year, Tracini returned to the role of Buttons, this time at the Barbican Centre in York alongside his close friend Dani Harmer and ex-EastEnders star Joe Swash. Due to his filming schedule for Hollyoaks, he again took a break from the pantomime stage in 2013, however having completed his work with the soap, he returned to the stage in November 2014, once again reprising the role of Buttons in Cinderella at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre alongside Julian Clary and The X Factor (UK series 4) star Niki Evans.[8] In early April 2015, it was confirmed that Tracini would be taking over from Todd Carty in the role of Patsy in the UK tour of Spamalot. The musical's cast already included his father, Joe Pasquale, who had extended his run starring as King Arthur

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh[a] (/pjuː/ PEW; born 3 January 1996) is an English actress. She made her professional acting debut in the mystery film The Falling (2014) and gained recognition for her leading role as an unhappily married woman in the independent drama Lady Macbeth (2016). Her performance in the latter won her the BIFA Award for Best Actress. She also drew critical praise for her leading role in the miniseries The Little Drummer Girl (2018).

Pugh's international breakthrough came in 2019, during which she garnered positive reviews for her portrayals of wrestler Paige in the biographical sports film Fighting with My Family, an emotionally troubled woman in the horror film Midsommar, and Amy March in the coming-of-age period film Little Women. For the lattermost, she received Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations.
Early life
Pugh was born on 3 January 1996[2] in Oxford.[3] Her father, Clinton Pugh, is a restaurateur in Oxford,[4] while her mother, Deborah, is a dancer and dance teacher.[5][6] Pugh has three siblings: actor and musician Toby Sebastian, actress Arabella Gibbins, and youngest sibling Rafaela "Raffie" Pugh.[6][7]

Pugh suffered from tracheomalacia as a child and was frequently hospitalized. When she was three, the family relocated to Andalusia in southern Spain, hoping the warmer weather would improve her health. Pugh lived in Sotogrande until the age of six, when the family moved back to Oxfordshire.[7][8]

Pugh's love of accents and comedy was first displayed at age six, when she played Mary in a school nativity play with a Yorkshire accent.[6] She later studied at Wychwood School and at St. Edward's School, Oxford.[5][9]

Career
2014–2018: Career beginnings
While still in school, Pugh made her professional acting debut in the mystery drama The Falling (2014), in which she played a precocious teenager opposite Maisie Williams.[6][10] Tara Brady of The Irish Times called her "remarkable" and Mike McCahill of The Daily Telegraph said she conveyed her character's "teen-queen bearing with the vulnerability of one still unsure of her own body".[11][12] In the same year, Pugh was nominated for Best British Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival and for Best Young British/Irish performer by the London Film Critics' Circle.[13]

Pugh made her American television debut in the television film Studio City, co-starring Eric McCormack, in 2015.[6][14] The next year, she starred in the independent drama Lady Macbeth and had a recurring role as a webcam model in the first season of the ITV detective series Marcella.[15] In the former, based on the novella Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Nikolai Leskov, she played a young girl unhappily married to a much older man. Reviewing the film for Variety, Guy Lodge called Pugh a "a major talent to watch" and praised her portrayal of her character's "complex, under-the-skin transformation".[16] For her performance, she won the BIFA Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film, among others.[17]

In 2018, Pugh appeared in the action film The Commuter and played Cordelia to Anthony Hopkins's Leir of Britain in Richard Eyre's television film King Lear.[18] Later that year, she portrayed Elizabeth de Burgh in the Netflix historical film Outlaw King (2018), which also stars Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce. Charles Bramesco of The Guardian found her "excellent despite her thankless role".[19] She next appeared in a six-part miniseries adaptation of John le Carré's spy novel The Little Drummer Girl, in which she played an actress in the 1970s who becomes embroiled in an espionage plot.[20][21] In a mixed review of the series, Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair wrote, "Pugh is terrific throughout, once again asserting her star-on-the-rise status. She smartly mixes earthiness with sophistication, wisdom with naïveté."[22]

2019–present: Breakthrough
Pugh was listed on Forbes' annual 30 Under 30 list, which recognises the 30 most influential people in Europe under the age of 30, in 2019.[23] She was also recognised as having a breakthrough in the same year, during which she starred in three major films.[24][25] She first starred as professional wrestler Paige in Fighting with My Family, a comedy-drama about Paige's relationship with her family, co-starring Lena Headey and Dwayne Johnson.[26] The film premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.[27][28] Geoffrey Macnab of The Independent noted how different the role was from Pugh's previous appearances, and wrote that she was "completely convincing as the wrestler" and that she showed "the same defiance, scruffy glamour and self-deprecating humour as the real life [...] Paige."[29] She next played the lead role in Ari Aster's horror film Midsommar, which chronicles a troubled couple who encounter Swedish cultists. David Edelstein of Vulture called her performance "amazingly vivid" and wrote, "Her face is so wide and open that she seems to have nowhere to hide her emotions."[30]

In her final film release of 2019, Pugh played Amy March, a headstrong artist, in Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel Little Women to critical acclaim.[31] The cast rehearsed the script for two weeks before filming began, but Pugh was not able to participate as she was filming Midsommar at the time. She stated that she believed this helped create distance between her and her co-stars playing her sisters, which proved conducive for her character's personality.[32] Highlighting Pugh's performance, David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that she "continues to prove herself a distinctive talent, managing all the tricky contradictions of the role with disarming grace, humor and a willful streak that grows almost imperceptibly into wisdom."[33] The film earned over $203 million against its $40 million budget.[34] Pugh's portrayal of March earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.[35][36]

Pugh will next star alongside Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Widow, about the titular superhero, as another agent of the Black Widow program, Yelena Belova.[37][38]

Personal life
Since April 2019, Pugh has been in a relationship with American actor Zach Braff.[39] As of January 2020, she resides in London

Avigan

Avigan

Favipiravir, also known as T-705, Avigan, or ‘’’Favipira’’’, or favilavir is an antiviral drug being developed by Toyama Chemical (Fujifilm group) of Japan with activity against many RNA viruses. Like certain other experimental antiviral drugs (T-1105 and T-1106), it is a pyrazinecarboxamide derivative. In experiments conducted in animals Favipiravir has shown activity against influenza viruses, West Nile virus, yellow fever virus, foot-and-mouth disease virus as well as other flaviviruses, arenaviruses, bunyaviruses and alphaviruses.[1] Activity against enteroviruses[2] and Rift Valley fever virus has also been demonstrated.[3] Favipiravir has showed limited efficacy against Zika virus in animal studies, but was less effective than other antivirals such as MK-608.[4] The agent has also shown some efficacy against rabies,[5] and has been used experimentally in some humans infected with the virus
Mechanism of action
The mechanism of its actions is thought to be related to the selective inhibition of viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.[7] Other research suggests that favipiravir induces lethal RNA transversion mutations, producing a nonviable viral phenotype.[8] Favipiravir is a prodrug that is metabolized to its active form, favipiravir-ribofuranosyl-5'-triphosphate (favipiravir-RTP), available in both oral and intravenous formulations.[9][10] Human hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT) is believed to play a key role in this activation process.[11] Favipiravir does not inhibit RNA or DNA synthesis in mammalian cells and is not toxic to them.[1] In 2014, favipiravir was approved in Japan for stockpiling against influenza pandemics.[12] However, favipiravir has not been shown to be effective in primary human airway cells, casting doubt on its efficacy in influenza treatment.[13]

Approval status
In 2014, Japan approved Favipiravir for treating viral strains unresponsive to current antivirals.[14] Toyama Chemical initially hoped that Favipiravir would become a new influenza drug that could replace Tamiflu. However, animal experiments show the potential for teratogenic effects on fetuses, and the approval of production by The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare was greatly delayed and the production condition is limited only in an emergency in Japan.[15]

In March 2015, the US Food and Drug Administration completed a Phase III clinical trial studying the safety and efficacy of Favipiravir in the treatment of influenza.[16]

On 15 March 2020 the drug was approved in China with the name Favilavir for the treatment of influenza.[17] The drug was also approved for use in clinical trials for treating coronavirus disease 2019 pneumonia.[17]

On 22 March 2020 Italy has approved the drug for experimental use against COVID-19 and has begun conducting trials in 3 regions most affected by the disease.[18] The Italian Pharmaceutical Agency, however, has reminded the public that the existing evidence in support of this drug is scant and preliminary.[19]

Ebola virus trials
Some research has been done suggesting that in mouse models Favipiravir may have efficacy against Ebola. Its efficacy against Ebola in humans is unproven.[20][21][22] During the 2014 West Africa Ebola virus outbreak, it was reported that a French nurse who contracted Ebola while volunteering for MSF in Liberia recovered after receiving a course of favipiravir.[23] A clinical trial investigating the use of favipiravir against Ebola virus disease was started in Guéckédou, Guinea, during December 2014.[24] Preliminary results showed a decrease in mortality rate in patients with low-to-moderate levels of Ebola virus in the blood, but no effect on patients with high levels of the virus, a group at a higher risk of death.[25] The trial design has been criticised by Scott Hammer and others for using only historical controls.[26] The results of this clinical trial were presented in February 2016 at the annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) by Daouda Sissoko[27] and published on 1 March 2016 in PLOS Medicine
