Annabelle

 Annabelle

Annabelle is a 2014 American supernatural horror film directed by John R. Leonetti, written by Gary Dauberman and produced by Peter Safran and James Wan. It is a prequel to 2013's The Conjuring and the second installment in the Conjuring Universe franchise. The film was inspired by a story of a doll named Annabelle told by Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard.

A spin-off focusing on the origins of the Annabelle doll that was introduced in The Conjuring was announced shortly after The Conjuring's release, mainly due to its worldwide box office success and the positive reception towards the depiction of the doll. Principal photography began in January 2014 in Los Angeles.

Annabelle premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on September 29, 2014,  and was theatrically released in the United States on October 3, 2014, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.  Annabelle received generally negative reviews from critics, many of whom felt the film inferior to its predecessor but was a box office success, grossing over $257 million against its $6.5 million production budget. A prequel, titled Annabelle: Creation, was released on August 11, 2017. A sequel, titled Annabelle Comes Home, was released on June 26, 2019.
In Santa Monica, California, John Form, a doctor, presents his expectant wife Mia with a rare vintage porcelain doll as a gift for their first child to be placed in a collection of dolls in their daughter's nursery.

That night, the couple is disturbed by the sounds of their next door neighbors, the Higgins, being murdered during a home invasion. While Mia calls the police, she and John are attacked by the Higgins' killers. The police arrive and shoot one killer, a man, dead while the female killer commits suicide by slitting her throat inside the nursery while holding the porcelain doll. News reports identify the assailants as the Higgins' estranged daughter, Annabelle, and her unidentified boyfriend, both members of a cult.

In the days following the attack, a series of paranormal activities occurs around the Forms' residence. Afterwards, Mia gives birth to a healthy baby girl. She and John name their child Leah. The family rents an apartment in Pasadena and, after finding the doll that John had discarded since Annabelle's previous attack in one of their boxes, another set of paranormal events plagues Mia and her daughter. The next night Mia is haunted by a malevolent presence in her apartment. She believes it to be Annabelle's ghost after she encounters an enigmatic figure in the building's basement, who begins pursuing her before she escapes.

Mia calls back Detective Clarkin to gather information about Annabelle and the cultists and learns that the cult intends to summon supernatural beings. With the help of bookseller and fellow tenant Evelyn, Mia realizes that the cult practiced devil worship, which summoned a demon who followed the family after they moved to their apartment so as to claim a soul. Upon returning home, Mia and Leah are attacked by the demon who reveals itself while manipulating the doll. Mia and John contact their parish priest, Father Perez, who informs them that demons sometimes attach themselves to inanimate objects as an advantage to accomplish their goals and that a human soul must be offered for a purpose. Without any hopes of exorcising the demon out of the doll, Father Perez decides to take it away to seek help from the Warrens for investigation. But before he can enter the church, the demon impersonating Annabelle's spirit attacks him and grabs the doll.

The priest is hospitalized on the next day and, when John checks on him, Father Perez warns the latter that after sensing its powerful presence, the demon's true intention is to claim Mia's soul. That night, while Evelyn is visiting Mia, the demon uses Father Perez's physical form to sneak into the apartment and abduct Leah for her mother's soul. To spare her daughter, Mia attempts to jump out of the window with the doll but John arrives in time along with Evelyn to stop her. Evelyn decides to take her life in Mia's place instead as atonement for causing a car accident that resulted in the death of her daughter Ruby years ago. As the Forms are reunited, the demon and the doll disappear, while Leah is safely inside her crib.

Six months later, the doll is bought from an antique shop by a mother as a gift for her daughter Debbie, one of the nursing students from the prelude of the first film.

Project Power

 Project Power

Project Power is a 2020 American superhero film  directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, produced by Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless, and written by Mattson Tomlin. It stars Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback, alongside Colson Baker, Rodrigo Santoro, Amy Landecker and Allen Maldonado, and follows a drug dealer, police officer, and former soldier who team up to stop the distribution of a pill that gives the user superpowers for five minutes.

The film was released on August 14, 2020, by Netflix. It received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for the performances but criticism for not taking full advantage of its premise
In near-future New Orleans, several drug dealers obtain supplies of "Power," a drug that grants random superpowers for a five-minute period. Among the dealers is a young man named Newt.

Some time later, Robin, Newt's cousin and a dealer herself, is sought out by three teens looking to buy Power. They try to take her drugs by force, but she is rescued by Frank Shaver, an NOPD officer who is one of Robin's regular customers. Newt, now a recluse with obvious signs of drug dependency, is found by Art, who is trying to find "Biggie" - the source of Power. After a struggle, Newt is killed after he overdoses on Power, but Art obtains his phone and uses it to find Robin.

Meanwhile, Frank foils a bank robbery by a Power-enhanced thief, but while his use of Power saves his life, he is suspended for drug use. His police captain reveals that government personnel are pressuring him to terminate any investigations into Power; he also gives Frank a picture of the man they suspect to be the source of Power: Art.

Art meets and abducts Robin, who he forces to take him to the drug cartel's safehouse, where Art is wounded while eliminating several of the cartel's men. A search of the cartel's headquarters then reveals that Power users throughout New Orleans are being carefully monitored, in order to collect information for potential buyers. In the meantime, a now-suspended Frank attempts to find Robin to re-up on his supply of Power. Instead, he finds several government agents at Robin's house, interrogating her mother. Frank intervenes to drive the agents out.

While Art recovers from the wounds sustained at the supermarket, he and Robin bond. Art then reveals that after leaving the military as an Ranger, he was recruited by Teleios, a private defense contractor who experimented on him to give him powers. While Art only took Power once, his daughter, born after the experiments, began exhibiting powers young, even without having taken Power herself - a version of fetal alcohol syndrome. When Teleios found out about Tracy's powers, they sent Wallace to abduct her.

Art and Robin find Biggie at an auction for Project Power run by Teleios. At the auction, Biggie claims that Power represents the next evolution of the human species, and reveals that the powers conferred by the pill originate from animals, such as the wolverine frog or the chameleon, among others. Art infiltrates the auction and abducts Biggie at gunpoint. A firefight breaks out among the various bidders, leaving only Art and Biggie alive. Biggie then reveals that the entire operation is being run out of a ship called the Genesis. Frank, who has been following Art and Robin, then intervenes in Art's interrogation of Biggie, allowing Biggie to take a dose of Power, forcing Art, Robin, and Frank to flee.

Frank arrests Art and informs his captain. However, Art reveals that the Power epidemic in New Orleans is all part of mass testing designed to stabilize the drug, and that Tracy is the source of the drug. He then convinces Frank that his captain is actually taking orders from Teleios. Frank leaves Art to be captured by Teleios and taken to the Genesis, while he follows them. Robin, now alone, follows Wallace to the docks, where she meets Frank, and they bluff their way aboard the Genesis.

Meanwhile, Art has been taken to Dr. Gardner, the scientist who developed Power, who compares Tracy and her cell contribution to Henrietta Lacks and her contribution to medical advancements. Meanwhile, Frank navigates the ship with Robin's help, before she is forced to flee by a Powered Wallace. Frank then successfully frees Art, and the two kill Wallace. At the same time, Robin finds Tracy, and together the two escape and Tracy reunites with Art. As the four attempt to escape from the Genesis, Robin is captured by Dr. Gardner, who demands Tracy in exchange for Robin. Art confronts Dr. Gardner, and reveals that Power gives him the abilities of a pistol shrimp, which he uses to kill Gardner and her men and rescue Robin. Using his power costs his life, though Tracy is then able to resurrect him with her own powers. Art, Frank, Tracy and Robin then escape aboard a lifeboat.

The following day, authorities refuse to speak on the incidents of the previous day. Frank expresses his intent to go to the press with the whole story, while Art tells Frank that his part in the entire ordeal is over. Art then gives Robin his truck - along with money to cover her mother's medical needs - and tells her to use the greatness inside of her. Art and Tracy then depart, finally free.

Betty Broderick

 Betty Broderick

Elisabeth Anne Broderick (née Bisceglia; born November 7, 1947) is an American woman who was convicted of killing  her ex-husband, Daniel T. Broderick III, and his second wife, Linda (Kolkena) Broderick on November 5, 1989. At a second trial on December 11, 1991, she was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder and later sentenced to 32-years-to-life in prison. The case received extensive media attention and was extremely controversial. Several books were written on the Broderick case, and a TV movie was televised in two parts.  In 2020, an 8-episode miniseries was produced and aired about the couple killer.
Betty Broderick was born Elisabeth Anne Bisceglia in 1947 and grew up in Eastchester, New York, a suburb of New York City. She was the third of six children born to devout Roman Catholic parents Marita (née Curtin) (1919–2007)  and Frank Bisceglia (1915–1998),  who owned a successful plastering business with relatives. Her mother was Irish American and her father was Italian American.

The Bisceglias were strict parents, and much was expected of all the Bisceglia children. As Broderick later recalled, she was being trained to be a housewife since the day she was born, or as she recalled: "Go to Catholic schools, be careful with dating until you find a Catholic man, support him while he works, be blessed in your later years with beautiful grandchildren". This Catholic upbringing was bolstered by the booming American economy in the 1950s when parents could reasonably expect that a man could maintain the expected standard of living and support a family on one income.

Broderick graduated from Maria Regina High School in 1965. She attended and later graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent  in the Bronx, where she earned a degree in early childhood education through an accelerated program. Her credits also earned her a minor in English

Pete Way

 Pete Way

Peter Frederick Way (7 August 1951 – 14 August 2020) was an English bass player, best known as the bassist in UFO with whom he played from 1969 to 1982, briefly in 1988–1989 and once again from 1991 to 2008. Way was also known as a founding member of Waysted and Fastway. He also notably played with Michael Schenker Group and Ozzy Osbourne.
He began his career as a studio musician for many artists. He played in bands with friends from high school and later created a band with friends Phil Mogg, Andy Parker and Mick Bolton. This became the original UFO lineup. After two studio albums with their original guitarist, the band then recruited the guitar wunderkind Michael Schenker from Scorpions. Later the band signed on guitarist/keyboardist and long-time friend Paul Raymond. The group released many albums and singles and had two UK top 40 hits.

Disliking the more commercially accessible direction UFO were taking in the early 1980s, Way jumped ship to form Fastway with former Motörhead guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke. Pete was unable to extricate himself from a contract he signed with Chrysalis and stepped down to play bass for Ozzy Osbourne during the Diary of a Madman tour.

In 1982, Way formed the punningly titled Waysted with Fin Muir, Paul Raymond, Frank Noon and Ronnie Kayfield. Their debut album Vices was released in 1982 and reached #78 in the UK chart. The band's third album, Save your Prayers, was their most successful in America where it reached #185.

In 1992, Way joined Phil Mogg in the reformed UFO and released the High Stakes & Dangerous Men album. However, Way was unable to take part in the 2009 tours for UFO's album The Visitor due to a medical condition; and because he had drug issues and the US would not allow him to enter the country. He has not played with UFO since, but made guest appearances with Michael Schenker. Way released two albums under the Damage Control banner, the first album Damage Control was recorded with Robin George, Spike and Chris Slade; the second was recorded as a trio with Robin and Pete sharing lead vocals.

During UFO's 1970s heyday, he used a Fender Precision bass, which along with his trademark striped trousers largely influenced the stage appearance of Steve Harris.

Way switched to Gibson Thunderbird basses, which are renowned for the hard edged rock tone; however, he recently commented that he has been using an Epiphone Thunderbird as he found it seemed to have a fatter tone.  He has also been known to use basses by Ibanez, most notably a pink Ibanez Iceman bass, and the Washburn B-20 for which he was pictured in an advertising campaign. His image was also used in an ad campaign by Artex basses.

In 2017, he released his autobiography, with the aid of professional writer Paul Rees, called A Fast Ride Out of Here: Confessions of Rock's Most Dangerous Man.

In 2018, he formed the Pete Way Band along with guitarist Kamil Woj and Jason Poole, and also recorded a guest bass on a Warfare song along with Evo and Fast Eddie Clarke titled "Misanthropy", which will be released in 2020 on Cherry Red Records.

In June 2019, PWB launched the UK tour with the new lineup consisting of two ex-UFO members.
