Pattas (transl. Firecracker) is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language martial arts film written and directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. It stars Dhanush, Sneha, Mehreen Pirzada in the lead roles and Naveen Chandra as the antagonist. The film features music composed by Vivek-Mervin. It marks the second collaboration between Dhanush and director Durai Senthilkumar after Kodi. The film depicts Adimurai, an ancient martial art that was practiced by the Cholas, and existed even before Kalaripayattu.[2] For their roles, Dhanush and Sneha underwent martial arts training prior to the commencement of the filming.[3][4][5]
The film was released theatrically on 15 January 2020 coinciding Thai Pongal and opened to generally positive reviews

For this film, Prakash Mabbu and G. Durairaj was selected as editor and art director respectively after previously collaborated with director Durai Senthilkumar for Kodi. Meanwhile, Om Prakash was assigned as the film's cinematographer and this will be his fourth outing with Dhanush after Maari, Anegan and Maari 2. Just like Kodi, the director-actor combination's earlier venture, Pattas too has Dhanush playing dual roles. The stunts were choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan.
Pattas will feature Dhanush in dual roles – father and son. The portion featuring Dhanush as the father will have actor Sneha as his partner, and Mehreen Pirzada has been signed as Dhanush’s partner for the son’s role. The film's first look poster was released on 28 July 2019, coinciding with actor Dhanush's birthday.[9] For their roles, Dhanush and Sneha underwent martial arts training prior to the commencement of the filming.[10]
The album got positive reviews. OnlyKollywood stated it as "This time, Dhanush gets a complete commercial soundtrack that has one song in every style, laced with energy and the josh of a big film as well. Vivek and Mervin have used the opportunity well with Pattas, and though some portions do sound familiar, this is an album worth multiple listens" and rated the album 3.5 out of 5.[15] Moviecrow rated the album 3.25 out of 5 and summarised it as "Vivek Mervin produces easily accessible energetic tracks for Pattas and barring few misses, composer duo deliver a fine commercial album after a long time."[16] Studio Flicks rated the album 3 out of 5 stating, "Pattas is an album that easily indicates the movie is an out and out commercial entertainer and having used this term, it is sure that the songs will achieve an escalated stature with the visuals. For now, Chill Bro and Jigidi Killadi happen to be the instant attractions" and gave a verdict "Vivek-Mervin offer a tailor-made package that a commercial entertainer demands."[17]

The motion poster of the film was released on 14 December 2019, with also announcing the release of the film. It features Dhanush in a father role. The film is scheduled to release on 15 January 2020, coinciding with the Pongal festival.[18]
